I do have it hooked up to a $1000+ amp that probably provides lots of headroom, but I? M sure they would work great on most any receiver. With 4 inch front stage, it would be way worth the small extra cost. I haven't had to add any speakers to this configuration to make it sound well balanced. They actually sell a pair of matching speakers separately for 5.1.2 or 7.1 (or whatever combo you care to setup. I tired to force the bolt in and the amount of torque was enough to break the insert free from the enclosure.
I think that having speakers high on the side walls is next good, followed by ones high on the front and rear walls. Dolby Enabled is the least desirable. Today, there are many home theatres on the market. Some of them have built-in speakers and some of them have to be hooked up to external speakers.

From a 120 degrees sitting area the sound is great .The auto adjust feature worked perfectly. If you have the funds -this one is worth buying. It does not have a DVD player - you will need to purchase a streaming DVD player for $90 to really get the value of this upgrade. First you need to set the cross over very high to help fill in the mid range. First off they should use a slightly larger driver in the fronts and center. A 3" driver really struggles with the low end of mid bass. They don't sound bad, but they definably would sound WAY better with this small change. This is not a high end speaker system but it is defiantly a great package for the price. I use this in my bedroom as I don't need a massive system. A couple of things that keep it from being the HT deal of all time.

The sound quality is great for the price, and you can change the names of the inputs on the receivers. However, as far as I've figured out, you can't get rid of extra inputs that you don't use . Pretty durable - we have a cat that's knocked one down and I haven't noticed any difference in sound. It came with enough speaker wire to go all the way around our small living room (10' X15' maybe?) instead of across the floor, so it looks more hidden. If your room is bigger than that and you want the wires well hidden, I definitely recommend buying some extra speaker wire. I also got a cheap universal remote and it programmed fine with it.

I do not like the difference in sound levels between the normal level of speech and the action levels; the difference tends to be too loud . Also, the unit does interface perfectly with the Samsung "Anynet" system. So, at times I need to mess around with multiple remotes to get the sound to work. However, all in all, this is a very good system for the price. You may choose between two colors for the Sonos Arc soundbar to match the style of your home's decor.

I would be much more worried about have a good 3.1 setup (then 5.1) than a really cheap 5.1.4 setup. I would not go with a home theater in a box solution but instead take your budget/money and slowly build a system. Start with the best pair of bookshelf/tower speakers you can buy.
